- Hi, I can't seem to install PostScript drivers in Illustrator CC. I keep getting 'The selected PPD is either invalid or corrupted.' I'm getting the driver from here: Adobe - PostScript printer drivers: For Macintosh I need to save out a custom size PostScript file so I can get color separation.
Postscript Printer Description
Pardon my ignorance folks, but I'm an OS9 Luddite about to (finally) make the switch to OSX. I am about to purchase a new G5 system, including a new printer and need to figure out what my options are for printing PostScript files to an inkjet printer. None of the salespeople I ask have answers, as most consumers (and photographers) print bitmap images (no PostScript) to their injet printers.
I need to print graphic design layouts that include PostScript graphics (logos, etc.) to an inkjet printer. In the past, I've used EPSON PostScript RIP (raster image processor) to process the PostScript data. EPSON is not offering this for OSX, and I'm wondering if I even need it with OSX. They also aren't offering an OSX driver for my 'antique' 1520, which is one, of many reasons, I want to replace it.
If I'm not mistaken, there is some 'display PostScript' technology working with OSX, that carried over from the old NEXT brand computer days. I'm wondering if this somehow assists with printing PostScript files with OSX applications.
Can anyone tell me if there are any PostScript RIP software solutions that currently work with OSX, USB and inkjet printers? Would converting a file to an Acrobat PDF file work in place of a PostScript RIP?
Any advice, or links to information, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time,
Dave

I can't not print any adobe files. I'm on a MacOSX 10.2.6 box printing to a linux CUPS server. I saved several adobe files directly as a postscript files and tried to print it, but I can't even do that directly from the print server Linux Box (that's taking the OSX out of the equation).
I have an Epson Stylus Photo 2200 connected via usb that can print anything but adobe files. I also have a tektronix phaser 8200 connected via usb as well. it's a post script printer. when i send it a command like 'lp -d Phaser Example.ps' it just spit out garbage (that's the linux or osx box too).
I'm not sure what is going on. If it was ghostscript, then the tektronix phaser would be able to print the postscript file correctly since it was a postscript printer(right?) and not the epson. but neither can print PS or interept data sent to it from a remost host sending it Adobefiles to be wrapped in PS. When this happens, the MacOS X box reports that 'client-document-format-not-supported.'
Is it cups? Any ideas, at all? :/
The setup is A Gentoo Linux Box with ESP Ghostscript 7.05.6, CUPS 1.1.19, Gimp-print 4.3.20 (for the epson) and tk8200dp.ppd for the phaser8200. I have checked the ppd on the http://www.cups.org/testppd.php webpage and it says PASS, but it just won't print. I'm at a loss. help, please.
